Allgauer Emmentaler is the German version of Emmental cheese. Aside from its mild, nutty flavor, Allgauer Emmentaler is known for its characteristic holes, which are formed by carbon dioxide that is unable to escape the rind of the cheese.

Origin Germany

Production & Aging Cooked pressed cheese. This cheese matures for more than three months.

Appearance Flexible but firm with cherry-sized wholes throughout. The cheese is yellow-gold in color with a brownish-yellow rind.

Taste & Texture It has a mild nutty flavor as well as a pungent smell.
